چکیده
INTRODUCTION One major goal of developmental neuroimaging is to identify the functional and structural biomarkers that are predictive of development of cognitive skills, such as executive functioning and general intelligence. Univariate analysis has revealed early insights into the nature of childrens’ intellectual abilities and its relation to neuroanatomical between-subject variations (Shaw et al., 2006). At the same time, multivariate analysis (MVA) has become a promising and highly sensitive technique to study distributed neuronal processing or widespread brain changes in healthy and clinical groups (Bray et al., 2009). Here, we tested the hypothesis of a stable brain structure and cognitive performance covariation using multivariate analysis, independent of the developmental stage in healthy children.

Exercise during adolescence attenuated depressive-like behaviors and hippocampal mitochondrial dysfunction following early life stress in adult male rats
Purpose: In this study, we assumed that treating animals with an antidepressant agents or voluntary running wheel exercise (RW) during adolescence may have protective effects against early life stress (ELS) which can impact on behavior and mitochondrial function. Evidence indicates that ELS has deleterious effects on brain and behavior and increases the risk of mental disorders such as depressi...

متن کاملComparing the Effects of High and Moderate Intensity Exercise on Male and Female Rats with and without PTSD: A Behavioral and Biochemical Study
Background and purpose: Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a condition that occurs in some people after experiencing shocking events. In this disorder, the function of some hormonal and neurotransmitter systems are disturbed. Physical activity, by inducing beneficial effects on the brain structure, improves anxiety behaviors, increases the level of BDNF, and reduces the harmful effects o...
متن کاملThe effects of exercise on adolescent hippocampal neurogenesis in a rat model of binge alcohol exposure during the brain growth spurt.
Exposure to alcohol during the brain growth spurt results in impaired cognition and learning in adulthood. This impairment is accompanied by permanent structural changes in the hippocampal formation. Exercise improves performance on hippocampal-dependent learning and memory tasks and increases adult neurogenesis in the rat hippocampal dentate gyrus. The present study examined the effects of whe...
